Stacking tangles... And tiles...

Meer - Mi2 - Mr. E
Meer was new to me. What a great tangle! I really love how the little sparkles makes such a huge difference in it's appearance... It was a bit of a challenge to draw it spiraling though!
I had to look up Mi2, it's one of the tough ones to remember if you don't use it regularly, but it's such a pretty tangle!

This is always a fun challenge and usually it really is a challenge to get the two patterns mixed!

Stacked!
I've seen these tangled stacks around and it looked like so much fun I just had to try for myself!
And it really is fun. Also very relaxing and zenful.
It's just tangle after tangle after tangle... Just hold the pen and it flows out on it's own...

New tangles in old books...

Static, Printemps, Poke root, Vega
I find Vega really hard to draw. And I couldn't remember it so I googled it and I found this amazing tile by Margaret Bremner (everything she touches is just amazing!)
Look at the way she drew Vega, it looks so cool, I just had to try it!

And while I was drawing the roundings I suddenly had the urge to try that with Hollibaugh which I was drawing yesterday for Joey's Challenge #71...

 Inside My Journal

I've been neglecting my journal lately. I just toss stuff in between pages. I really have to get something done because knowing me, if I get too far behind it'll seem endless and I'll never get it done...
My usual layering... Notes about books I've read and what happened during that week.

...

Yesterday I went shopping with my daughter. I love that! We both love looking at everything we pass... Something that drives the boys crazy... lol.
We went to a secondhand store and I found this beautiful old book...

It's an old woodmans book. It has to be pretty old as it's printed in Gothic which I just googled and learned they stopped doing around 1860 and by 1900 everything was printed in antikva.
So it must be over a hundred years old. And well read too. Stained and bend pages.

And would you look at that! It has tangles! Soooold!

Those pages are just begging to be tangled!

Vacation time is busy time...

Oh, I missed the deadline for this one. I tangled it last Wednesday...
Boy, how time flies by when it's vacation time...

I used Efilys as the string and surrounded it with a border of Equerre.

I brought out my watercolors for this one.

There's been way too little tangling going on here the past week!
So I let them rain down on this twinchie...

 Rain, Ripple, Tipple, Msst
(Hush! Don't tell anyone.. I kinda "cheated" a bit with this one and drew it in pencil first. Otherwise it wouldn't have been possible to go over and under like that...)

ATC #1 - For Swap-bot..

This is my first ATC which I made for a swap on swap-bot.
The theme was "Just a doodle".
I used some cardboard from an envelope that came from amazon with a book ("Wreck this book" - wonder when I'll find the time to get that one started! Pfft...). I really liked the color of it and thought it would look great with brown micron and white highlights. I used colored pencils for shading.

Tangles: Hurry, Printemps, Dandi, Fescu, Kozy, Tipple

It's a little weird sending this off into the world... But thankfully the Karen in Oregon was very pleased to receive it!

This is what I got in return, from another tangler.

I love the laced tangle and the middle that looks like a mandala.
A very lovely tile!

I have made my very first pocket letter this week too. Also for a swap. That was really fun and I will be making more definitely! I see how that can be addicting!

Last week I bought a chromecast and it came in this little box.
Nice and sturdy and such a lovely color...
Now it looks like this...
I decided to keep one of the inside dividers.
Now it holds inchie, twinchie and ATC sized tiles all cut up and ready for use...

Swapping the Zen...

The first thing on my mind was windmills... In Denmark we have Vestas, they make windmills which are sold all over the world. Windmills are a part of the landscape here. Also I know people who work with Vestas, so it's no wonder that immediately popped into my head...

What a great tangle pattern this was. I love the depth it creates.
That last bar went it's own way...

I have found what will probably turn into a new obsession... Somehow I ended up on this blog and she posted pictures of some wonderful tangled ATCs she made for a swap on this site called Swap-bot...

Just imagine actually getting something other than adds in the mailbox. Like beautiful handmade ART in the mailbox. Like zen in the mailbox!
Yesterday I mailed my very first ATC ever. It's on it's way to the states. I'm crossing my fingers the recipient will be happy with it...

Today I have made a card for another recipient in Canada. That will be going in the mail tomorrow.

So why am I not showing off my very first ATC ever?
Because it's a surprise!! It's no fun, if you already know what's in the letter when you open it.

 ...Waiting by the mailbox...

The zentennial and the return of the zendala...

Vacation time... So very soon...
Last day at work tomorrow and a very busy day, then Saturday we go camping. Yay!
That usually means no internet, and maybe even no cell coverage (WAHH!)

So I wanted to get a final post in before we're off. I didn't want to miss the 100th String Thing! And not the return of the zendala dare either!

A very big congratulations to Adele and an even bigger thank you for all the work she puts in these great challenges!
Adele Bruno made a lovely 100 inspired string and ditto tangle for this very special challenge.
This tile simply just drew it self.
Pure zen.
I love when that happens!

Erin is back with her zendala dares. Lucky us!
This template took some thinking.
As Erin thankfully pointed out, it has an uneven number of triangles. Had she not, I would no doubt have had the same problem she did as my first thought was paradox or betweed. That would make a cool effect. But not with uneven numbers.

The solution to me was five empty triangles. Of course they weren't empty long...
Problem solved... Next problem was all those ovals... To get them even... Not a chance...
So I 'cheated' again and just used some of them...

I love the look of Paradox, but it didn't have enough contrast...

Out comes the colored pencils... Some more solid black... Heavier shading...

Now I am happy.
I really didn't think I would get anything out of that template. And that is exactly why I love this challenge...

That was not my only problem this week...
The inchie prompt had me staring at the paper. And the twinchie I just rushed and sadly do not have time to make it like I wanted...

This is the first time I have been completely blank on an inchie prompt... Probably because I think noses are kinda nasty...
And how do you draw a nose so it looks interesting or cute or just nice?

But it is a challenge, so I tried... My son likes to dig for gold... So I drew that... ;)

I realized this one has deadline while I'm away, so I had to do a quickie...
In stead of tangling as I wanted I just colored it in...

Mono all the way...

There's a lot of monotangling going on lately with both Joey and Suzy hosting one. And this week (well, last week... I've fallen a bit behind...) the Diva challenge too.
Lucky me, I love monotangles!

The great thing about monotangles is that you really get to know the tangle and have to come up with variations to keep it interesting...

The second week of Suzy Moshier's monotangle challenge stars Axlexa.
A great tangle with possibilities...

I tangled you 4...
Square Axlexa string...
Axlexa with inside aura...
Axlexa with thick and thin lines...
Solid background...

It's so fun to draw a yarnball! It's kinda like one of my favorite tangles, Arukas...

Zen in the sun...

It's here!
The sun, the heat... Summer... Finally...
Just as we were about to give up hope it arrived.
So I had a little zen in the sun, and some of it with my trusty microns...

B-string with B-tangles...

A B to see... Get it? I'm so witty when it's this late... ;)

B-string with a whole lot of B-tangles is how I tackled Tuesday this week...
Be Vee, Bales on a string, Borbz, Btweed, Buttercup, Beadlines and two more that were new to me along with Be Vee, but I cannot remember the names right now...
Added some dangles as all the white space inside the B were poking at my eyes... I also tried for a drop shadow, something I think looks so amazing when I see it done, but man, it is hard to get just right.

I'm already contemplating how to attack next weeks C-string...

Tripoli - Tearce - Tracery

These were all new to me. I have seen Tearce used several times and really liked the look. I like it even more now that I have tried it.
Tripoli is so versatile I will also be using that again for sure.

Inside my journal
Last weeks entry in my journal.
The backing paper is a paperbag that came with some washi tapes I bought on ebay. I thought it was cute so I put it to use.
