A double Joey!

A dust bunny??!
I was wondering if that was the name for that bushy thing on a stick used for dusting... Seeing playboy bunnies dusting my living room... (Yes, I know, my mind is kinda weird...) Thinking how on earth that would come into a zentangle tile...

Till I thought to click the words... Doh! Of course it's a tangle name...
And a great tangle too!

Inspired by Joey's lovely dust bunny bookmark, I decided to make one of my own...

Eca-Lin by LonettA
Dust Bunny by Margaret Bremner
Petunia by Denyse Jones
Beadlines by Margaret Bremner

All but beadlines were new to me... Loving all three new tangles!

This was drawn with microns, gelly roll and colored pencils...

I really liked this challenge...
Loved the tablecloth Joey used as inspiration for it and was inspirered to do a tablecloth tile of my own...
I used to have a Christmas tablecloth with the most beautiful border print, a border in the middle and stripes in two shades of red for the rest... I adored it... But nothing lasts forever... (Especially not tablecloths with kids in the house...)
Then came the tough part... Lining them up together... I messed up with the middle part...

This would really benefit from some coloring, but I decided to go ahead with this weeks challenge in stead...
The tangle used is Ballace by Damy...
A great tangle that you can do a lot with...
And a tiny bit of beadlines by Margaret Bremner...

Easter holidays have begun!

Hang in there... It's a long one... Covering 3 days...

So it's monday... And it's easter... Aka HOLIDAY! Aka YAY!

Oh, no! Someone took an axe to my oak tree!
Or maybe just a butterknife... As it's only an inch...

Today I brought out the scratch tiles and made two "happy easter" cards for some easter eggs that I am giving away for the "gækkebrev" I sent out a couple of weeks ago. (It's a Danish tradition, you can read about it in this post...)

God påske = Happy easter...

I think maybe I made a new border tangle on the colored tile. I quite like it! And I love how it came about all on it's own!

I added some new scratch tiles too with the easter eggs. Spreading a little creativeness along with the chocolate! :D

Sunday...
It's been a very long time since I last picked up a crochet hook... More than a year... Maybe even two... How time flies...
At least it was long enough that I had to look up the stitches! (It can be a bit confusing with the difference in UK vs US stitches with the same name...)

I was stopping by www.heatherpearson.com looking for the tangled thursday challenge but instead I found the most amazing thing on Heather's needlework tuesday post...

The reason I suddenly just HAD to dust of the crochet case was this crazy amazing CAL (crochet along) called Sofie's Universe ...
So many different stitches and colors it looks so fun to make!

Just look at this amazing piece... It's up to part 12 of 20 so the ones who got started in time is about halfway done...
What it should look like about halfway done... Amazing!
I DID NOT MAKE THIS! Follow the link to see the other 2 versions/sizes of this beauty...
I only just got started!

No, this tiny little doily is what I made most of on saturday and a little today...

I love these colors!
This is actually just a trial run... I just wanted to make sure I was up for this pretty intense challenge before investing in new yarn (Nooo, I do not have yarn in my stash that will work for this! Well, I don't have enough of that yarn anyways! So really, I have to by new yarn... I do!)...

This is cheap cotton which I have a pretty big stash of and thus a nice range of colors... But a larger piece is going to be pretty heavy if made in cotton, so I prefer wool...
But I'm very sure there's a teddy in the house who would be a happy taker of this test run...

 Saturday...

Finally got around to finishing the second drawing for the "Triple B" Bible Book Biweekly Challenge.
The terms for the challenge have now changed. So you do not need to draw an entire page to participate, now any size goes!
I went for half a page as I have been pretty low on tangle-time this week...

This weeks book is "Exodus"...

E - Enyshou by Zentangle
O - Ovolution by Sandra Chatelain and Ogel by Margaret Bremner (Oops... a second O tangle sneaked it's way in...)
D - Diva Dance Foxtrot by Zentangle

Of these 7 tangles only 2 were known to me. I really love all these new tangles I learned, but especially Ovolution and Ogel.

Lining up the felines...

Cats in a line...
I saw something like this on pinterest a while back and today I was in a cat kinda mood...
So this came to mind (after falling into the dreaded pinterest cat-trap... Suddenly half an hour had gone by just looking at cat pictures going awwww...) and was put to paper...

This one I might just hang on the wall!
(I love cats!) (Like, really love them!)

Tangles used are Printemps, Beeline, X, A-Fog and... The last one slipped my mind...

Yesterday's creative work:

O-Tangles:
Orbs-La-Dee by Anneke Van Dam
Ohoho by Damy
Obad by Molly Bee
Octoleg by Damy
Okra by Kathy Redmond

My purple micron wanted to be picked up. And shading was done with pencil and purple pencil...

Back in black...

String: I drew a border with loops...
Y-ful power, a new tangle I have seen used so many times, never getting around to trying it, so thank you!
Yomaho, I think I've already learned another tangle that is very much like this one...
Zopfe, a new tangle I learned for the tangled thursday biweekly challenge...
Zinger, well known...
Zilly, much like Zinger...
Zescen, great tangle, very nice to draw...

And yesterdays creativeness...

New "challenge" from madebyjoey...

Every friday Joey will share pages from her sketch book and she invites us all to join in...

I don't really have a sketch book (all though I am planning on making a cut-n-paste one as Joeys have done.) So for this (or last week, I fininshed the pages yesterday but the content was made last week.) I will share my tangle-journal/diary...

Whatever I drew during the past week is put in between the pages of my journal. Then I finish 2 pages for each week during the weekend... (Or whenever I find the time/feel like it...) Using some of the tiles/drawings I made and some pretty paper. Then I write or draw/tangle or watercolor...

I usually have a lot more stuff than I have room for on two pages. So I layer it all and make sure almost everything can be lifted to see what's hiding underneath.
Sometimes I make a pocket on a page or glue two pages together to make a pocket for storage.

Under this first tile I wrote about a book I read last week and under the second I wrote a little story about how my son takes after me...
I tangled a little here and there with new tangles I learned last week...

Out with the green, in with the rose...

Joey's weekly tangle challenge #52: "Rose in a Sphere"

Rose in a sphere...
This was a though one!
I'm not ecstatic... If you read yesterdays post, you know that I messed up the Rose pattern and pretty much gave up on the whole thing...

But after sleeping on it... No, I'm not giving up on more than half an hour work!
Grabbed a sharp blade and cut out the square that I messed up! Then taped a little piece of paper on the back of my sphere, voilá (well, that's what we say in Denmark when we think we have been really smart!) Now you can hardly even see it...

It does look round, but the edges looks flat. Maybe it's the black... I studied Margaret Bremner's sphere (which by the way is amazing!) and thought I did what she did, but no...

This was no walk in the park... But I still had fun doing it...
Can't wait to see what Joey thinks up for next week...

Tangled Thursday: Use the tangle "Zopfe"

Zopfe is a really lovely tangle that I have never used before, so I am very happy to take part in this challenge and fall in love with yet another tangle...

I kept it simple to get well acquainted with Zopfe and only added Beadlines...
The string I did by making a loop on each side of the border...
Now, this tile, I am very happy with!

Breaking the Saturday Zen...

One of the most annoyingly zen-breaking things is when you mess up a pattern!
And I just did that... Big time... There's no saving it... It's either a doover, a finish and deal or a trash...

This was for Joey's weekly tangle challenge of using pattern Rose in a sphere...
This was going pretty well... Then... :(

I did however managed to finish a couple of things today without messing up...

My son is going to a birthday party tomorrow and I made this little card for the present he's bringing.

Another card. This one for my boss' 40 year anniversary.
40 years, isn't that amazing?

Yesterday I finished a tile for...

New to me B-tangles:
Balo by Hsin-Ya Hsu, Beadlines by Margaret Bremner, Binial by Cindy Angel
Btwined by Pegi Schargel and Borbz by Rita N.
Also two non-B tangles; Footlites and Vano.

Beadlines is a new favorite of mine. I have a strong feeling it will be used a lot!
Balo is so very beautiful, but I can't seem to get it as pretty the creator. Practice, practice...
Btwined is so great with blacked holes. I just made it too small... More practice...

Going green...

The diva said..."Green up your tile..."

I said... "Okay!"

Wud, Fat Paper, Bead Lines
Green and brown fine liners/microns, green gelly roll and green colored pencils...

I love green! Already started another tile with green and purple, perfect combo!

Yesterday...

Verdigogh, Web, X, Xplo-zen

Sunday Zen...

I really fell in love with Cubine yesterday when doing the tile for the Diva challenge. So I thought I'd make another submission for the Diva's with this zendala dare. But then my pen got ahead of me and had suddenly drawn some Betweed...

Ah, well that's what happens when you get in the Zen zone... It just starts drawing itself...

Cubine, Poke root, Betweed
(Please follow the Cubine link and see Margaret Bremner's tutorial and you'll fall in love too!)

Again this one took on a life on it's own and turned out more of coloring in than a zentangle tile...
Still, I had fun and that is after all the most important thing about these challenges...

In Denmark we don't celebrate St. Patrick's day, pretty much all I know of that tradition is clovers and green...

We do however celebrate Easter which is not that far away now... And it is much anticipated here as it means a holiday of an entire week! Yay!

The easterbunny has not made it's way to Denmark (YET... halloween and valentines is almost a thing now, so the easterbunny will probably be next...).

We have our own easter tradition of making and mailing a 'gækkebrev'. It's a paper-cutting with a little rhyme and dots for your name, that you send to a friend in a letter with a snowdrop flower. If the receiver does not guess who sent it, they will have to give an easter (chocolate)egg. If they guess right, the sender will give the egg.

The kids have spent their afternoon cutting colored paper and thinking up ways (cheating!) to dot their name so noone will be able to guess...

I made this one for my niece... Just cheating a tiny bit, dotting my name with eggs as 'aunt Ann' in stead of just 'Ann'...
She'll guess it, if not I'll 'accidentally' ask if she received it...

Crazy for cubine...

Cubine is one of those tangles that just looks kind of boring. Of course that's just because I never took the time to play with it...
I'm so very happy Laura picked it for this week challenge, forcing me to use it...

A whole new cubine world opened up to me when I followed the link to Margaret Bremners tutorial!
Truly amazing and so very inspiring tutorial... Margaret is my favorite tangler, she does such amazing work!

Here is my cubine/pokeroot tile...

I have really fallen for cubine. I love the depth it can create. I will be using it again for sure!

Tangling for me!

This just happens to be my initial... And would you know it, there is actually a tangle with my name!
Now how could I not use that!?

Ann by Adele Bruno... And it's a butterfly, which I love...
Truth be told, it felt more like drawing than tangling... But I still do love this doodly tangle!

String:
I drew a border with a little loop and just two lines...
"A" Tangles:

These tangles were all new to me. I really love all of them. Especially A-Fog (the middle one) is so great to draw and looks amazing.

Egyptian zen

Amazing how much it bugs me that I have not gotten all the challenges done last week and probably wont this week either...
The easter holidays can not come around fast enough if you ask me! I'll be home with the kids for an entire week AND a day! Yay!

I did manage to do the monday inchie yesterday and today I finished last weeks zendala dare which I have been working on during the weekend...
So thankfully I have been able to sneak in some zen moments in between playdates, visitors and visiting...
Hopefully next weekend will be a little more relaxed and at home too...

A quite popular subject for this weeks promt...

Kozy, nymph, iza,btweed, hollibaugh...

I was very much in doubt whether to fill in with black behind the Hollibaugh, but finally decided to call it finished...

Tangling Genesis...

This is the first time I've done an entire page of tangles. And as I suspected I really loved it!
Even with seven tangles there is plenty of room to go a little bigger than usual.

I started out with a big Squid with lots of swirls... I do love swirls... And I was very happy with my Squid...
Then I tangled Gneiss and messed it up twice... Agh... But I decided to go on a rescue mission instead of scrapping, and think it went okay...

4 of these patterns were new to me, so most of my afternoon was spent practicing and even though I was only going to start this drawing, deadline is not for three weeks, I just could not stop... And there went my friday evening drawing...

We got new chairs today, the came in to huge cardboard boxes which the kids transformed into a bus/rocket/den and suddenly it apparently turned into a bed...

When the kids play...
Mom gets to tangle away...

G - Gneiss by Zentangle
E - Efilys by Sandra Strait
N - Neuron by Bessamy Snoderly
E - Equerre by Genevieve Crabe
S - Sez by Zentangle
I - Iza by Adele Bruno
S - Squid by Zentangle

Iza by Adele Bruno is really lovely and a joy to draw... A new favorite...
I am really looking forward to the next BBB challenge!

To be or not to be... Vano...

My Vano got a makeover... Like the extreme home edition....
Do you still see the Vano in there?

All though it's not exactly what I had in mind, I do like it. I would like to play more with Vano. But that will have to be a playdate for tomorrow...

A bald totoro...

Just barely scraping by with this challenge the last day being tomorrow...
It's been one of those days where I end up with more paper in the bin than on the table...

But finally I finished a tile and it will have to do...

It kind of looks like a totoro carrying an opus branch... A bald totoro... Or an alien...
(Yes, I should get some sleep...)

String: A circle...
Tangles: Msst, Navaho, Opus...
